       Our Eco Statement

We  like to make little impact on our surroundings and would like to encourage our guests to do the same.

  • Travel with the planet in mind

  • Reduce, reuse and recycle

  • Enjoy nature and reduce our footprint

Our need to restock does mean using the car, so we buy in bulk where possible this reduces packaging and we endeavor to use the local shop owners, Debbies Seafoods and Steve from Slade Point Meats. When time permits, we walk to shops and tavern.

We are constantly working on being more energy efficient by installing solar electricity and extra insulation.  The majority of our lighting use only energy saving bulbs, movement sensors and solar lights.  Our heated spa is on economy tariff and is on a timer.  Our appliances have an efficient energy use and we try to only use the dishwasher in off peak times,

Our toilets have duel flush options and taps have aerators.  Our hot water is at a temperature so the use of adding more cold water is not necessary and we use well water and washibg machine water to water our gardens. We collect the seaweed that washes up on the foreshore to fertilize the garden.  We regularly, heavily mulch the gardens to save on watering and only have cold water connected to our washing machine.  We do not have a drier and utilize nature for our drying. We recycle paper, tin, plastic and glass and consider the trees before we print correspondence and encourage companies to email bills and set up payments systems to this end.

We have 2 worm farms and compost our waste and leave lawn clipping on the lawn.  We use recycled printer paper and cartridges, toilet paper and rechargeable batteries where possible.  We use Eco friendly shower gel, washing powder, toilet cleaner, general cleaner, kitchen towels and dishwasher powder, stain remover, fabric conditioner, washing up liquid and use a steam cleaner and eco cloths.

We ask guest to help respect our efforts by:

  • Switch lights and air-conditioners off when not in the rooms-use fans and open windows if possible

  • Use the Eco friendly products provided

  • Have a shorter shower

  • Hang up towels for future use if staying more than 1 night

  • Do not leave tap running when cleaning teeth

  • Keep items separate for us to recycle

  • Ask us about walks and dining that can be accessed by foot and use local shops

Public transport is outside the front gate and links are on our Transport page

Please come and stay and enjoy what has taken us almost 40 years to make an Eco friendly paradise.
